PRIVATE BUNGALOW AT BRIGHT STREET, KOLKATA

Each floor of this majestic house covers an area of 3500 sq ft., making this a significantly large residence. Belonging to three brothers of a single family and spread over five floors, the challenging task in designing was to avoid the temptation of repetition since every floor had a similar space planning requirement. The ground and the first floor houses the common areas largely occupied by a banquet hall equipped with a separate kitchen. It also consists of an office, a guest room, utility area and an elevator lobby which is shared by the occupants.

Having a similar space plan, one experiences a different look on each of the upper three floors, largely based on the occupants’ likes & tastes. A simple, devoid of any ornamentation contemporary look adorns the second floor, whereas, a neo classical look with baroque furniture and embellishments decorates the third and fourth floor levels. A family room occupies a portion of the terrace looking out into the green lawn landscaped with colourful flora that makes it an ideal place for a get together and relaxation.
