APARTMENT AT LOWER ROWDON
A modern design, good proportions, spacious & well-lit rooms and the use of subtle colours in the form of various materials define the design of this residence. Situated in an upmarket residential area of Kolkata, the design is an amalgamation of two apartments spreading east to west over an entire floor. Meant for a joint family, the design accommodates two separate living, dining & kitchen areas, with six bedrooms, a puja room, home theatre space and a separate study room.Strictly modern in character, the design changes its colour palette as one progresses from one living area to the other. Thus, the living area on the western side wears a cool look by being strictly white &light beige with a hint of blue punctuated by dark zaricote veneer whereas, beige and various shades and tints of brownbring warmth and enhance the other living area on the eastern side. Emphasized by large openings, both the living areas have abundance of natural light all throughout the day. Featuring several functional areas, the living spaces acts as the core of the residence, where inhabitants and their guests can engage in social get together. The study room and kitchen, on the western side, have partial glass covering so as to increase visibility from the dining and living area and also enhances the large volume of space by adding a touch of colour from within. The home theatre room complete with a full range of cinema viewing experience abuts the other living area complete with a juice bar and a games table.
The contemporary look is carried on into the bedrooms with the master suite designed with walk- in –closets with an in-built dressing area, which also forms the intermediate space between the bedrooms and the toilets. Reddish burl veneers adorn the walls along with the beige bottochino marble flooring only to contrast the coloured marble used in the washrooms. Marble is an element that is used throughout the design, – in the form of light beige flooring and wall panels, & various colours in the toilet areas adding an original gloss to the walls & floor, increasing the level of elegance &sophistication.
The residence gradually unveils more bold colous in the children’s bed rooms & study areas with shades of green, blue, red and yellow holding Centre stage. Thus, fabric, paint & veneer in various colours and textures come together to bring about the lively, happy look.
